2010 was an eventful year:
I finished university,
moved a number of times (3 cities, four different houses/apartments),
adopted Wellington,
and started this blog (of course).
I love making new year's resolutions and I have a bunch that are related to baking and my blog. I started a big to-make list and I'll be adding on to it every time a recipe catches my eye.
I am planning on re-vamping this blog a bit in the new year. I only have a trial/junior type account at the moment which is easy to use and so far has worked for me. However, I want to customize it further which means upgrading the account and putting some time into re-designing it.
I've been trying to improve my photography (as much as I can with my little point and shoot camera) and I want to keep working on my photographs in the new year
I also want to make more artisan breads. I got a few of Peter Reinhart's bread books for Christmas and I've already read them cover to cover.
Speaking of things that I got for Christmas.....
I got the *most* beautiful rolling pin from my parents this year. The design is hand burnt into the rolling pin by Burnedfurniture who has a shop on Etsy.
Previously I only owned a very large plastic fondant roller and a teeny tiny gum paste roller. So usually for baking I would just roll out my dough with a wine bottle. Not anymore!
It even has bleeding heart flowers on it (my favorite flower!)
The artist's shop also has stunning wooden spoons and doubled sided cutting boards that I have my eye on.
I also have to share the retro teapot that my boyfriend got for me. I love the slices of toast on the lid.
Wellington is pretty excited about it too.
....he lost interest when he discovered the pot was filled with tea and not catnip or canned food like he had been hoping.
So goodbye 2010, and hello 2011 which will hopefully be a good year with lots of interesting baking and significantly less packing-and-moving.
Love the teapot! So cute. I'm looking forward seeing your treats!

So nice to receive beautiful gifts that are also useful. I'd hang that rolling pin up where I could see it everyday.
Wow, you've had such a productive year! No doubt the next one will be awesome. All the best to you!

Happy New Year! What a gorgeous rolling pin, what fun you'll have using it! I will check back on your bread making progress, that's one of my new year's to-do's, too. I keep meaning to try the easy fast bread from Mark Bittman but I can't coordinate my schedule to be home when the rising is done, or to be awake to set it to rise so that I will be home when it's, uh, risen. ;)
