I'm Sick of Winter

Around Valentine's day it felt like spring was on the way. It was nice enough outside that I didn't need a hat, I started planning our garden and thinking about camping and picnics and pretty dresses.

But winter was having none of that happiness, it has decided to stay f-o-r-e-v-e-r. Instead of grass pushing its way up through the snow the temperature has dropped to minus twenty-six (although it feels like minus 35) and the sky keeps dumping its stupid snow on me.

I remember being excited for snow and winter and wearing winter clothes. "Yay snow! It's like a winter wonderland!".

However, it is now  March and I would like to go outside without having to put on a million layers.

I made some cookie templates of all the winter layers I have to put on before I go outside. A good visual reminder for next year when I'm all looking forward to getting my winter coat out.

This is the cookie first thing in the morning trying to decide what to wear. She chooses a pencil skirt, tank top and cardigan.

But it's not that simple. She'll be a ball of frozen cookie dough if she waits for the train in -27 just wearing that under her jacket.

So first she needs a pair of tights (or two) and a pair of leggings over top of that.

Then knee high socks over the leggings and some sweat pants over that.

I'm not going to lie, sometimes I sleep in the very sweat pants that I use as a layer the next day. Mostly because it's so cold outside that I like to pretend that I'm still warm in bed and not out in the freezing wind. I think it's called denial.

 

P1200322 Next she puts on her sweater and  her skirt over the sweats (that way when she gets to work she can just take the sweats off and look like a normal person and not a marshmallow)...

..Then adds a hoodie or two depending on how cold it is. One hoodie for below -17 . Two hoodies if it gets to -30.

Then jacket, boots, scarf, hat, and mitts.

Now she's ready to go outside and be relatively warm and comfortable despite the temperature.

Maybe I'll have a Winter Sucks party where we all sit around drinking tropical drinks and plan bbq's and lake trips.

I can't wait til I get a stand mixer... fondant is likely the first thing I'll try (probably a horrible idea) just because it looks so awesome. Also, I want spring too. Also, you should run cooking classes!

Fun coookies. Very creative idea. I love all four of the seasons. Back to back triple digit weather can be as hard to deal with as back to back snowstorms.

LOL!!! Such a great way to express winter SUCKS!!! I agree - we have 2 stoves going and it's been freezing here all the same time I am so done hauling logs into the house 24/7. GO AWAY WINTER!
